Georgia has a high rate of polluted rivers. Polluted river is a great threat to the ecosystem but first of all it’s a threat for a human health.
River Kochki originates from Madataba Lake and crosses a village Gorelovka, where it is polluted by solid waste and sewage that flows from neighboring farms and dwellings.
Photographer Natela Grigalashvili worked for three month in Gorelovka and nearby areas to photograph the polluted banks of the river, as well as the river bed from its source to the village which is not yet contaminated.
River Kochki is one of the examples of rivers’ conditions in Georgia.

The Project was implemented with the support of REC Caucasus.
